A BOUNDARY is a definite place where your responsibility ends and another person's begins. It stops you from doing things for others that they should do for themselves.

A BOUNDARY also prevents you from rescuing someone from the consequences of their destructive behavior that they need to experience in order to grow.

Boundaries need to be based on personal values and needs. They help in leading a meaningful life by guiding adequate use of time and resources, protecting mental space, and ensuring psychological well being.

The dictionary meaning: 'boundary' is something that indicates bounds or limits. A territory or a line that should not 'be crossed.

It is very important to know your personal boundaries in a relationship to ensure that you are treated with respect and your identity is safeguarded.
